FLOW - current body of work
a search for peace on the threshold between life and death
We spend our lives trapped in unique searches for serenity. Between the constant stimulations of our fast paced world, it becomes almost impossible to let go of our anxieties and be still. In my search for a flow state away from the distractions of contemporary society, I find comfort in the image of water. Water is the most powerful and peaceful image my mind can conjure; its duality fascinates me. While it is a vital building block of our bodies, it can easily be our demise.
In my own life, I have realized flow state occurs in the moments where we embrace pain and let go of the fear of death. We can find tranquility in allowing our lives and bodies to take control beyond the influence of worry. The vulnerable body melts into the water surrounding it in my artwork, and unites with its environment. Water becomes a representation of the threshold between life and death. In surrendering life, our minds could find the time to give up control and embrace peace.
