About

Maggie is a painter from Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She currently resides in Savannah, GA where she studies painting at SCAD with a minor in production design. Her life as an endurance athlete from childhood to current gives her a unique perspective on the body, her environment, and the role of labor/pain throughout her practice in both disciplines. Physical movement is an essential part of her creative process. Her current studio practice is a study of the spaces where comfort and pain can coexist. She marries the human figure with water in her work, as her life has been filled with reminders of the dual nature of water, as a powerful life source capable of destruction. In her paintings, water has become a representation of the “in-between.” Her work currently shows in Savannah’s Alexander Hall gallery space.
